Katrina van Tassel - Katrina made me have all the feels possible. I loved her character from the very beginning to the end. Initially, she was so afraid of stepping on toes, and her voice was barely heard, but once she came into her power, was amazing. There were a few moments with her and her inner monologue that really made me feel emotional, I could feel what she felt and I loved how close I could feel when reading about her.
The Dullahan - Who doesn't love a character made the bad guy but in fact, is a good guy? He was portrayed as this bad wolf, but along the way, you learn his story, and sadly his story isn't happier than Katrina's. I felt they were perfectly made for each other, and they were perfect together, to heal each other and grow.
There are obviously other characters, such as Henry, who made me think about my grandpa for whatever reason. I loved that Katrina had at least someone to look after her and take care of her, and Henry was such a guardian angel, and I loved each moment with him. The rest of the characters have shaped the story and also added an extra layer on that mystery which made me even more addicted on reading the book.

The world-building was perfect. I don't read too many gothic stories and this one hit the spot. The eerie town they lived in, secluded by everyone else hiding behind a magical veil away from humans, and all those mystery events happenings makes you love the vibe of the story. It's the perfect read for October in my opinion.

I loved the pace of the story. It felt just the right type of pace, not too fast, not too slow, enough information without feeling like an info dump along the world-building giving you all the spooky feels. The one horse trope was so hilarious, you usually have them hot and bothered, this time you have them awkward and I so loved that vibe, it was so different and funny, I loved the fact the character had a health issue representation, in this case, hearing impairment and as someone who has a disability in real I love reading about all sorts of disabilities in books and I learned so much from Katrina's character. The Dullahan was definitely a lovable character, I loved the way he was building Katrina up, and even tho she knew she should find that spark in her I loved the fact she allowed help from him to build her confidence up. Also, a new trope that I love is "Take your hand off my wife" ahhhhhh the feels, even tho is a fake marriage the feels were everything!! I definitely hated Katrina's parents, they were an awful bunch, but Katrina's growth was beautiful, and I loved the story, the vibes, the world-building. Everything was really beautifully made.

The romance in the story is very, very clean. I loved the romance in the story, it had those strong feelings of love, those hand touching here and there, furtive glances and it really made you fall in love the same time as the characters did. There may be some triggers in the story such as: loss of a parent, abuse, talk of human sacrifice, and magical battle/blood.
